I tried these out for rock cod in NCal fishing both 300 plus ft & shallower inshore as well. These are the most productive of all of my soft baits, hard jigs, whatever. I swear they outfish deadbait. I put 2 of these on a double dropper loop ldr maybe 6 ft long with a 12-32 oz wt depending on current down deep & lighter inshore 12 oz torpedo. My ldr is 60 lb fluoro inshore & heavier mono at 300 ft where its too dark to see it. I like these weighted 6" eels because the hook is really stout (caught a few smaller lings w them) & the movement is really lifelike. I found a 12" soft eel to try for lings which I rigged single hk & double hk. Tryin them out in 2 days but we catch sand dabs 1st for lings so may do better may not. Last trip I limited way b4 the rest of em & after a while I quit using any squid strips or scent & these still got hammered immediately at bottom every single drop by all of the different species. Not its intended use but it outfishes everything else Ive tried for rock cod for under $3.00. plus line I ve got a killer rig thats crazy effective, fast & very durable (1 rig lasted the whole day. Washed & ready for next trip in 2 days.) & needs nothing else. Out fishes white flies w squid strip, coneheads with squid head, even Spro 3/4 oz gold chrome bucktails my old favorite. All presented in same way double dropper loop.
